This design project took place at a home located in the upscale Northern Shores neighborhood in Greensboro, North Carolina. The clients were married doctors with two daughters and a large dog. They sought the expertise of the Jessica Dauray Interiors team to introduce a more sophisticated and custom design, upgrading the home’s features and fixtures from builder’s grade. Livability was a primary concern because their lifestyle is casual and family centered. However, the clients also have hectic work schedules, so it was paramount that we create a relaxing space.
In the living room, we promoted a calm environment by removing the visible clutter and streamlining the focus wall. We used craftsman who could implement our vision for custom-designed cabinetry and glass barn doors, and then we located a Greek-key ottoman that complimented the motif. We completely redesigned the fireplace wall for a sleek and transitional look. While maintaining that clean look, we also introduced texture through the use of a grasscloth wall that covered the area above the built-ins and on the cabinet doors. This softened overall look and feel of the room. The furniture we selected was luxurious but easy to maintain. The result of this design was a room perfectly suited to the family’s lifestyle: stylish, relaxing, livable and family friendly.
